Blank Canvas

Writer's picture: DougDoug

It’s funny and tragic how some things turn out isn’t it. All these children with hopes and dreams, a blank canvas for whatever they can dream for, damaged for whatever reason. I think we all have the possibility of becoming mentally ill, there’s that chromosome in us that needs switching on by trauma. Some of us deal with it, others don’t, many go on to lead full and successful lives and people like me remain stuck in childhood. Some choose to remain stuck. I choose not to, I choose to understand my illness and live in recovery, to spend every day learning and becoming stronger through understanding. I suppose in old fashioned terms this is what is called ‘Pulling yourself up by your bootstraps’ or ‘Getting on with it’. You cannot help anyone until they want to help themselves. #eupdrecovery #eupdawareness #bpd #mensmentalhealth #suicideprevention #andysmanclub #suffolkmind
