Perdition

Writer's picture: DougDoug

The meaning of perdition is quite clear;

a state of eternal punishment and damnation into which a sinful and unrepentant person passes after death’

Does anyone deserve such damnation? Is there no forgiveness for those beyond redemption? I believe in forgiveness, not because of any sense of religious fervour but because it is the human thing to do. Of all of the strange mechanics that make up the soul, I think the ability to forgive is the most difficult yet most important part of that mechanism.

Without forgiveness there is no peace. The ability to move forward is impossible without releasing those chains of hate, despair, loss and disappointment. Those imposters of personal peace seek to keep you away from your real self, the self that needs calmness and serenity.

Dont look for answers in books or self help pages of gurus. Don’t hide away and self medicate with alcohol drugs or meaningless sex. Those roads lead to a vicious circle of self loathing and continued hate for reasons that become lost to you. All you are left with in your soul is hate, which quickly fills the spaces meant for love and laughter and life.
