House of Dragons

It’s a good job I’ve kept the beard as I’ve been called back for 7 days more work on set. 2 days rehearsal and 5 days filming on what I’ve been told is a pivotal scene. I’m hoping it involves fighting and dying in dramatic and interesting ways! I can’t wait for you all to see it, it looks so good! I’m going to be on telly quite a bit next year as there’s quite a few things I’ve been in. You’ll be fed up of seeing me. I should run a competition to see who’s the first person to spot me! There’s so much I can’t tell you it’s unfair!!

As most of you are aware I am now a grandad or as I prefer to be known ‘Pops’! It’s a special moment in my life. It ranks right up there with having my own children. The moment I held her for the first time and felt her breathe, watching her perfect tiny fingers open and close, her big dark beautiful eyes flicker open, was an entire universe away from the crying blubbering stinking drunk wreck of a man found hanging on the end of a cord those few short months ago.

The world is full of what ifs and buts and wudda cudda shooda. My story is one of hope. My life shows that no matter how broken you are, you can still fix yourself if you really want to. I would have missed the special moments that are coming my way. Those moments when you genuinely feel happy to be alive. Those times when everything seems to be going your way. This is not to say that my life will be a bed of roses. We all experience ups and downs, it’s how we deal with them that defines who we are, what sort of person we want to be. I hope that I can share those special moments with my family and with my granddaughter. Most of you know that I’m reasonably proficient in expressing myself but there are no words to really describe the feeling of holding your grandchild in your arms. She is part of me. She carries the same dna as me and of her ancestors. She is a glorious mix of my son and the beautiful Sophie. I know that she will grow to be as beautiful and kind a person as all my children are. She is in such safe hands.
