Compliments

It’s very strange that I was talking about compliments at my WAVES course yesterday. I said that giving and receiving compliments is a powerful drug for the brain. Receiving one makes you feel good. Giving one makes you happy knowing you’ve maybe improved someone’s bad day!

I was sitting on a bench waiting for my daughter to arrive and this attractive woman walks by says ‘hello and You’re a handsome man’ and walked on! I stuttered a Thankyou and smiled. My day has been sad. I finally cut ties with my past, as painful as that was. It needed to be done for everyone’s MH! So the compliment came at just the right time! We are very slow to give compliments and very unsure when we receive them. Why can’t we accept them in the good faith they are given. I try to give compliments when I can but you have to be careful to whom you give them! Anyway it made me feel great!

You're not alone. I have always found it very hard to accept compliments. For some people it is easy, for others not so much x
